The fabric of music changed. Instead of the guitar battling with louder instruments, it could now be front-and-center with very little effort from the player. A single note from the guitar could ring out above the band, and the band no longer had to adjust their volume to make room for the guitar. Furthermore, the sound of the guitar could then be processed: achieving completely new sounds that were un-heard-of before.
